World-class healthcare in the region...

Gulf Care partners with top paediatric hospital

DUBAI, October 9, 2014

US-based Gulf Care International, a leading healthcare consulting firm, has partnered Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, enabling it to offer world-class treatment for children in the region.

Among the Middle East children whose lives have been saved or transformed at Lurie Children’s Hospital is Hanan, a seven-year-old Syrian girl who lost her leg in the Syrian Civil War. Thanks to next-generation technology, she now has a sophisticated prosthetic leg that enables her to walk tall and proud while reclaiming her life.

In yet another success story, another little girl had to be rushed 6,500km to Chicago after she started throwing up blood. A blood clot was blocking her liver, and a complex surgical procedure called a Rex Shunt was urgently required to save her life. The hospital was the very first in North America to perform this procedure, with a 91 per cent success rate. In less than a week the girl had been discharged. Whereas previously she had been unable to take part in physical activity, she now excels in volleyball and other sports.

Khalid Alagel, founder and CEO of the Gulf Care Group said: “It is every parent’s nightmare to see their child in pain and yet being powerless to help them. We passionately believe that a parent’s love knows no borders, so we have brought Chicago and the Gulf region closer than ever, by partnering with Lurie Children’s Hospital.”

“Its 130-year legacy of innovation will ensure that Gulf parents have access to the very best healthcare in the US, giving children back their childhood so they can look forward to a healthy adulthood,” he added.

Gulf patients will be under the care of the International Patient Services Department at Lurie Children’s Hospital, where over 90 per cent of patients say they would definitely recommend it for the care of their loved one.

Lurie’s Children’s Hospital has over 1,200 physicians in 70 paediatric specialties and has cared for children from over 34 countries.

The hospital is in the Top 3 best performers nationwide on key quality measures, and is one of only 10 US children’s hospitals to be named a Top Hospital for patient safety. It also ranks in the top five in the US for neurology and neurosurgery, urology, gastro-enterelogy and GI surgery.
