Last month was the hottest and sunniest August in Bahrain since records began. The maximum temperature in the country exceeded 40C on no less than 23 days last month, according to figures released by the Transportation and Telecommunication Ministry’s Meteorological Directorate yesterday. Such sustained scorching temperatures have not been felt in Bahrain at any point in the past 113 years, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
