Dubai launches medical complaints portal

DUBAI, December 10, 2016

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has launched a new medical complaints portal.

The move from manual to an electronic complaints system will further enhance efficiency and is applicable for patients within the country and medical tourists, said a senior official.

Dr Layla Al Marzouqi, the director of Health Regulation and Dubai Medical Tourism Project at the DHA, said: "We already have a robust medical complaints procedure in place and the move towards an e-complaints system will further enhance efficiencies and streamline processes."

"Our aim is patient satisfaction and implementing mechanisms that ensure delivery of world-class healthcare in the Emirate and electronic integration for all our regulatory processes is an important criterion to achieve our goals," she added.

In another development, DHA has introduced the eAuthorization for insurance claims in line with its efforts to completely transform the health insurance system into an electronic one.

The system introduced through DHA's health funding department will help the sector move to an electronic authorisation process for insurance claims from January 2017.

The move means that beginning next year insurance claims that need approval will be processed online in real time, making the process quicker and more convenient for patients, said the DHA in its statement.

The move is in line with its efforts to completely transform the health insurance system into an electronic one, it added.

DHA said for providers and health insurance companies, it will mean real-time approvals without the need to go back-and-forth on phone calls and present papers for authorisation. For patients, the approval and treatment process becomes quicker and convenient, it stated.

The eAuthorization will take place through the DHA’s eClaimLink which is an all-in-one electronic hub that manages health transactions with its medical, financial and administrative information with superior efficiency.

The link offers a faster, smarter and more efficient pathway and will help strengthen Dubai’s role as a world-class health regulator and provider.-TradeArabia News Service
