EHS achieves ISO certification for AI Management System

Emirates Health Services (EHS) has achieved the International Standards Organisation’s (ISO) 42001:2023 certification for Artificial Intelligence Management System from Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). 
 
This accomplishment solidifies its leading position in AI innovation, making the UAE the global pioneer as the first country in the world to receive this certification from this leading authority.
 
This milestone marks the culmination of EHS’ dedication to implementing the highest global standards and practices in establishing, implementing, and enhancing the Artificial Intelligence Management System continually. 
 
Thorough audit
It represents international recognition of its efforts in utilising, advancing and overseeing services that leverage artificial intelligence technologies. The announcement of this certification came after a thorough audit and evaluation by Lloyd's Register experts, verifying adherence to best practices and compliance with international standard protocols (ISO 42001:2023).
 
Mubaraka Ibrahim, Acting Chief Information Officer at EHS, underscored that obtaining the certification aligns with the country's vision, bolstering its strategic priorities and objectives in artificial intelligence. She emphasised that this achievement enhances EHS’ readiness for the future, highlighting the continuous investment in AI technologies and applications within the healthcare sector.

Dr Amina Al Jasmi, Director of the Radiology Department at EHS, said the pursuit of ISO 42001:2023 certification through the artificial intelligence project in diagnostic imaging is geared towards ensuring the responsible development and utilisation of AI systems within EHS services. This global standard provides practical guidance in the fast-evolving technological field, outlining the requirements for implementing AI management systems within organisations.
