Dubai plans to improve transport network

Dubai , June 11, 2007

Public transport authorities in Dubai are studying plans to improve the transport system.

'Improvement of the public transport network is among the crucial challenges to elevate the efficiency levels of mobility in Dubai,' CEO of the Public Transport Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla is quoted to have said in a report in the Khaleej Times.

'These challenges are bound to activate and enhance the efficiency of the public transport system.'

Promoting the public transport sector as an integrated system is regarded a motivational factor to accomplish more significant urban evolvement prior to embarking on widening the services to cover the other countries in the region, he is quoted to have added.

'The Public Transport Agency is currently focusing on the combination of low-density with expansive urban areas to create a type of integration in the public transport system, which means the passenger services are aimed to offer a cost-effective and optimal public transport in order to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the services delivered to the public.'

The current public transports networks need to be put in combination, their capacities need to be increased and the public must be encouraged to go for them, the report added.

'It would also improve public health and increase productivity in a way that is in tune with the overall progress of the nation,' Al Mulla is quoted to have added in the report.
