Association delegation visits Alba plant

A delegation of senior members of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) recently visited the Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) plant on a goodwill mission.
Malaysian Ambassador to Bahrain, Ahmed Shahzan Abd Samad; Thai Ambassador to Bahrain, Vichai Varasirikul; the Charge d’ Affaires of Brunei Darussalam, Ahmed Haji Jumat; and Charge d’ Affaires of the Indonesian Embassy, Agus Salim; along with their accompanying delegation, were welcomed by the company’s chief executive Laurent Schmitt.
They were briefed on Alba’s growth and progress for the past forty-years, the state-of-the-art production process involved in producing its high grade aluminium products, and its presence in various markets of Asia and Europe, a statement from the company said.
“Alba remains committed to increasing its footprint in Asia in general and the ASEAN countries in particular. We have recently set-up a sales office in Hong Kong to bolster our marketing efforts and tap the demands of a growing customer base in the region,” Schmitt said.
The delegation was later given an extended tour of the smelter and also a presentation on Alba's environmental commitment, safety policies, and adherence to quality, corporate social responsibility initiatives as well as contribution to Bahrain's economy, the statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
