New toolkit to support Bahrain's businesses

MANAMA, May 10, 2015

The Industry and Commerce Ministry and International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, will launch the Bahrain SME Toolkit, a report said.

It is supported by Tamkeen, Bahrain Development Bank and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The event, under the patronage of Industry and Commerce Minister Zayed Al Zayani, will open today (May 10) at the Palm Hall of Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

It aims to help Bahrain's Economic Vision of transforming the kingdom's oil dependent economy to a more diversified and developed economy that is productive and internationally competitive.

Based on this perspective, the ministry continues its support to entrepreneurs, as well as micro, small and medium enterprises by using the latest communication and multimedia technologies to enable different businesses in the developing markets to learn and apply sustainable management practices, increase production, quality and capacity, and increase the opportunities to enter the regional and international markets as well as supporting the commercial consultancy services of the enterprises.

The Bahrain SME toolkit has been created to provide the SMEs with easily accessible and adequate information at one place along with technologically advanced tools and globally relevant knowledge content on how to expand businesses while filling the gaps in the existing services.

The local content of the SME Toolkit varies to include guides on starting and registering a new business, regulatory information, schemes of assistance, investment opportunities, mentoring and export advice, business directories, market and trade statistics, tender information and buy-sell bulletin boards amongst other business related information that will complement the globally relevant learning content and tools on various aspects of running a business.

During the launch event, an introductory workshop will be held to highlight the most important contents of the toolkit and how to use and benefit from it. The invitation is open to all. – TradeArabia News Service
