Veritas unveils new portfolio for enterprise data centres

DUBAI, July 8, 2015

Veritas, Symantec’s information management business, has unveiled new offerings for rapidly evolving enterprise data centres, as well as significant upgrades to its core portfolio of backup and information management products.

This set of product enhancements and new solutions showcases a fundamentally different approach to delivering data and services across multiple cloud environments, said a statement.

The enhancements to current products will enable simpler management in hybrid cloud infrastructures and extended protection for VMware and Microsoft virtual environments.

Veritas is also introducing new products that will enable businesses to delve deep into their data stores to recognise and prioritise information across their organisations.

Matt Cain, executive vice president and chief product officer, Veritas, said: “Our customers find themselves at the crossroads of an information explosion and a fundamental shift in the way infrastructure is delivered.

“To make sense of tremendous volumes of data, we know that traditional infrastructure-centric approaches alone no longer work. These new offerings will help our customers realise information availability while gathering the insight critical to supporting their business goals.”

Veritas has brought together a unique combination of experience in application availability and storage management on premises and in the cloud.

It will also offer management tools that help companies find the estimated 1.5 percent of truly valuable data in their organisation to glean information, regardless of underlying infrastructure models.

Laura DuBois, programme vice president, Storage and GRC Infrastructure, IDC, said: “There are several driving forces impacting a company’s ability to take advantage of its data today. Businesses and individuals are creating more data than ever – and IT organisations are struggling to manage the increasing scope and size of their data storage needs.

“Veritas is well positioned to help companies tap into their data to gain more value, as well as ensure the availability and recovery necessary in today’s ever-changing business marketplace.”

The key product updates and new releases include Veritas NetBackup 7.7, Veritas InfoScale, Veritas Resiliency Platform, Veritas Data Insight 5.0, and Veritas™ Information Map.

An operational separation of Veritas and Symantec is currently scheduled for October, with the complete separation on track by January next year. - TradeArabia News Service
