Damen’s Stan Pontoon 9127

Ocean Koper adds Damen Stan Pontoon to fleet

GORINCHEM, Netherlands, July 9, 2015

Ocean Koper, a member of the Ocean team headquartered in Trieste, Italy, is set to strengthen its  fleet with the addition of a Damen Stan Pontoon 9127.

The contract, signed last year, is for the largest pontoon in the region, and in the Adriatic Sea, said a statement.

This will be the second barge purchased by Ocean Koper from Damen, it said.

The towage company that provides offshore support services was established in 2005 and acquired the P9 barge, a Damen Stan Pontoon 7524, in 2010.

Ocean Koper’s current fleet consists of two Anchor Handling Tugs, two tugs that are regularly involved in short-sea-towage-operations and two cargo barges.

Andrea Trevisan, sales manager, Damen, said: “We have a number of competitively priced, high-quality pontoons on stock that can be delivered from the port of Rotterdam within a very short time – which is the case with this particular order from Ocean Koper. The on-stock availability was definitely an advantage for both parties.”

The pontoon will be delivered with a three-week period of the signing, said the statement.

With a length of 91.5 metres and a beam of 27.4 metres, the pontoon will be equipped with a few customised options prior to final delivery.

“There will be a few smart options added to the pontoon and some features, such as the ballast system, tailored to Ocean Koper’s operations,” Trevisan added. - TradeArabia News Service
