DP World, the Dubai-based global marine terminals operator, recently sent its employees to live and explore Milan Expo 2015 and share their experiences with Dubai Expo 2020 organisers.

DP World’s delegation represented the entire company, from leaders and directors to customs specialists and ground staff.

The mission of this delegation was to grasp the visitors’ experience at the Milan Expo 2015 and contribute to feeding the Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau with an informed perspective.   

The team included DP World chariman Sultan Bin Sulayem; vice chairman Jamal Majid bin Thaniah; Group CEO Mohammed Sharaf; chief operating officer Anil Wats and other senior DP World officials.

More than 40 DP World family members from different nationalities also made their way to Milan, collaborating and connecting their diverse skills and invaluable experience during the five-day trip and formed recommendations for Dubai’s Expo 2020.

Bin Sulayem said: “The Dubai Expo 2020 presents a tremendous opportunity for Dubai, the UAE and the region to showcase its already established and efficient infrastructure and its unique geographic position as a hub for trade, business and tourism. It will create jobs and cement international relations and partnerships.

“Our attention is focused on making sure we have the infrastructure in place to support the building and running of the event and we are working very closely with our customers to do that. The delegation we sent was part of our ongoing research and quest for best practice that we can apply in five years’ time and to help us develop initiatives and ideas in collaboration with Dubai Expo 2020. We look forward to working with Dubai and the UAE to host the world and to make Dubai Expo 2020 the best possible experience for all.”

The technical visit included exploring 22 pavilions and filling in a range of surveys to be shared later with the Expo 2020 team.
