DMCA showcases local maritime sector competitiveness

DUBAI, March 10, 2016

Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) showcased the most competitive advantages of the maritime industry of Dubai, on the sidelines of the recently concluded TradeWinds Shipowners Forum.

The forum discussed key issues related to the global maritime sector.

During a panel discussion session, Amer Ali, executive director of DMCA, provided a comprehensive idea about the various maritime components and the efforts being made to promote the competitive advantages of the local maritime sector to make Dubai one of the world's most important maritime centres.

“The maritime industry is witnessing a very important stage, and our participation in the event is particularly important, as it offers us the opportunity to communicate directly with regional and international counterparts, and brief them on the latest developments related to the maritime sector, which have had a large impact on the development, promotion and organization process of the local maritime sector to position Dubai among the most competitive maritime capitals in the world. During the event, we introduced our tireless efforts to the international community regarding the development of all aspects of the maritime sector as we believe that it is an important and main pillar for sustainable economic growth," said Ali.

“We would like to thank the organizers of this event for choosing Dubai to host the third edition of the TradeWinds forum series following the success of earlier forums held in Hong Kong and Athens. This affirms the leadership of Dubai as a key player in shaping the future of the regional and global maritime sector," he said.

The forum, which is a flagship event of TradeWinds, a leading shipping news provider, was designed to be topical and forward looking with highly focused discussion sessions and presentations made by a mix of high-level global maritime influencers and local leaders.
