Opel Astra leads sales of European cars in Egypt

CAIRO, July 26, 2016

Opel Astra, a leading automaker, has maintained its position leading sales of European cars in Egypt between January and May, registering sales of 1,776 units worth EGP440.4 million ($49.5 million), said a report.

Kia Sportage, manufactured in Slovakia, came in second with 1,366 cars sold over five months which amounted to EGP382.5 million ($43.06 million), added Daily News Egypt report.

Peugeot 301 was ranked third with 975 sold units worth EGP136 million ($15.3 million), it said.

Opel Insignia took the fourth spot on the list, recording sales of 937 cars valued at EGP337.3 million ($37.9 million). Škoda Octavia followed in fifth with 764 cars worth EGP145 million ($16.3 million).

Opel Astra has maintained its lead over European cars since January. Between January and April, the model witnessed sales of 1,431 cars worth EGP343.4 million ($38.6 million), added the report.
