US firm wins Oman recycling equipment deal

MUSCAT, October 20, 2016

Oman-based Al Ramooz has selected US’ Bulk Handling Systems (BHS), a recycling equipment maker, to design, manufacture and install recycling equipment for refuse processing plants in Ibri and Buraimi in northwest Oman, said a report.

As part of the multimillion-dollar order, Orlando-based BHS will set up automated plants designed to sort materials that can be either recycled or burned for energy, or need to be landfilled, added the Oman Daily Observer report.

The 220-tonne-per-day and 150-tonne-per-day systems, which are slated to start up in 2017, will treat mixed solid waste from both Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi governorates, it said.

BHS noted that the recycling plants will help Al Ramooz fulfil a contract to collect the refuse of 250,000 residents in the two cities.

Additionally, BHS will also equip the two plants so they can produce refuse-derived fuel.
