Abu Dhabi waste management plan in spotlight

ABU DHABI, December 19, 2016

Leading experts discussed multiple approaches to modelling the waste management system in Abu Dhabi, UAE, at a key workshop organised by Tadweer (Center of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi).

The second stakeholder workshop on the Abu Dhabi Waste Master Plan 2040 brought together senior executives from the relevant fields who actively participated in the session, reported state news agency Wam.

Tadweer’s general manager Eisa Saif Al Qubaisi described the workshop as extremely successful, as it achieved significant progress with the support and feedback of the participants.

Multiple approaches have been considered for the waste management system in order to identify the best opportunities for reshaping the system and delivering maximum returns for the emirate, he noted.

Al Qubaisi pointed out that from collection, infrastructure and facilities to current legislation and policies, all aspects have to be taken into consideration to understand which links in the chain need to be strengthened.

He noted that the collection of data through the workshop will play a pivotal role in the plan’s development.
