FedEx Express awards entrepreneurs team from Oman

MUSCAT, December 21, 2016

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp and the world’s largest express transportation company, has presented the 2016 FedEx Access Award to a team of young entrepreneurs from Oman.

The FedEx Access Award was part of the recent Injaz Al-Arab Young Entrepreneurs Competition 2016, held in Bahrain, said a statement from the company

The annual competition, open to teams from the Middle East and Africa (MEA), recognises talented young individuals who have entrepreneurial mindsets and excellent start-up ideas.

Injaz Al-Arab, a member of Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide, hosted the 10th edition of the Young Arab Entrepreneurs competition in Bahrain, with 20 teams of young Arabs participating from across the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.

The 2016 FedEx Access Award was presented to Bellora. The company is built around the concept of recycling economically valuable waste to produce an organic product that saves water, time and money by reducing the use of irrigation and fertilisers, said a statement.

Last fiscal year, FedEx mentored 5,345 student entrepreneurs worldwide through its FedEx Access Seminar and Awards, it added.

Since 2007, FedEx has implemented the FedEx Access Seminars and Awards, teaching high school students how to build enterprises capable of accessing global markets.

FedEx team members work with students to design companies that can expand across international borders, create jobs and incorporate sustainable business practices.

David Ross, president of FedEx Express Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa, said: “Our company is built on global connectivity and we understand deeply the importance of access.”

“We are committed to improving access for young leaders to gain the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their academic and professional lives,” he said.

“Supporting today’s youth in their entrepreneurial aspirations is a key step to creating a future sustainable business environment,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
