Composite Materials Zone to debut at TaipeiPLAS 2024

TAIPEI, 29 days ago

The Taipei International Plastics and Rubber Industry Show (TaipeiPLAS 2024) will introduce a brand-new Composite Materials Zone as part of its expansion, with nearly 500 exhibitors across more than 1,800 booths. This accounts for a remarkable 40% increase from 2022, according to TAITRA, the organiser.

The Composite Materials Zone is being launched along with a Taiwan Composites Prime Pavilion in collaboration with Taiwan Composites Association, according to a release.

This pavilion will showcase comprehensive solutions from prominent enterprises such as Everlight Chemical, Taiwan Glass, HCG, Advanced International Multitech, Energy Composite, and leading research institutions, including the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), National Chung-Shan Institute of Science & Technology, and Taiwan Textile Research Institute. These exhibits will introduce cutting-edge Made in Taiwan (MIT) composite material solutions to attendees.

Composite wing tank
More innovative composite materials and applications will be on display at the Composites Innovation Pavilion. Among the highlights is the composite wing tank from AIDC (Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation), featuring excellent structural design for sealing and lightning protection to meet high standards for flight safety.

HCG's carbon fibre monitor, compared to traditional metal monitors, offers superior weather resistance, aging resistance, and corrosion resistance, making it ideal for harsh environments and reducing maintenance costs. The recyclable thermoset CFRP composite bike developed by SWANCOR, which has won several international awards, boasts an innovative resin system that enables closed-loop recycling of thermoset composites and is also applicable to wind turbine blades, rail transportation, marine vessels, and automobiles.

Composite materials are increasingly in demand due to their outstanding features, such as lightweight properties, insulation, corrosion resistance, plasticity, and recyclability. According to MarketsandMarkets, the global composite materials market value is expected to grow from $74 billion in 2020 to $112.8 billion by 2025, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.8%.

Two more zones
In addition, TaipeiPLAS 2024 will also feature two other new zones: the Bio, Recycled Plastics & Green Products and the Adhesives & Glues. Both zones are rich in industry advancements, offering visitors deeper insights into the diversity of plastics and rubber materials. The industry’s persistence in creating versatile, functional and eco-friendly materials enables extensive applications across different industries.

TaipeiPLAS 2024 will take place from September 24 to 28 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre, Hall 1, in conjunction with ShoeTech Taipei (Taipei International Shoe Making Technology Show).--TradeArabia News Service
