Five killed in shooting at Quebec mosque

QUEBEC, Canada, January 30, 2017

Multiple gunmen opened fire in a Quebec City mosque during evening prayers on Sunday, killing five people and injuring several others, National Post reported.

“This is a terrible event,” president of the mosque Mohamed Yangui was quoted as saying in the report, which cited Postmedia News. “We’re in a state of shock, I can’t find words to describe it.”

Yangui said five people were killed and many others injured, adding that he received a call about the mass shooting around 8 pm.

He said between 60 and 100 men, women and children regularly attend evening prayers at Centre Culturel Islamique de Québec.
