Batelco invests in Six Sigma

Manama, February 17, 2008

Batelco is investing in Six Sigma to achieve business excellence, the company said in a statement.

Batelco Chief Executive Peter Kaliaropoulos congratulated and rewarded 10 employees who have been certified as Six Sigma Black Belts, following their successful completion of the required professional training, through Juran Institute, USA.

“The key challenge for us today is to manage increasingly complex processes at lower overall cost, whilst at the same time improving customer service,” said Kaliaropoulos at an event held recently at Batelco’s Hamala headquarters.

“Learning from other companies who have faced similar challenges, the Six Sigma tools and techniques are one of the enablers that will support us to handle process complexity and lead to improvements. Six Sigma will significantly contribute to improving our customers’ experience and satisfy other business objectives,” he said.

“Over the past two years, we have implemented 17 projects using the Six Sigma methodology and as a result of those projects Batelco's Customers have realised significant benefits,” he said.

“We genuinely believe that Six Sigma is a highly disciplined measurement based process that will help Batelco to develop and deliver near perfect products and services,” he added.

Kaliaropoulos encouraged all Batelco employees and management to learn and practice the concept and the improvement tools of Six Sigma as part of the company’s business operations and activities.

“We will continue to invest in training and developing our employees on the best and latest world-wide methods,” Kaliaropoulos said.

The staff who achieved the Black Belt rating in Six Sigma methodologies are Souad Al-Kabie, Hisham Khunji, Mohammed Tayeb, Wafa Al-Hajeri, Reem Jassim, A.Qader Madan, A.Ghani Al-Najar, Kataryna Stapleton, Sama Al-Alawi and Amal Taqi. – TradeArabia News Service
