Batelco launches BlackBerry PlayBook tablet

Manama, May 8, 2011

Batelco, Bahrain’s leading telecoms provider, has launched the BlackBerry PlayBook, the first telco in the kingdom to bring the latest BlackBerry device.

The BlackBerry Internet tablet boasts a 7' LCD multi-touch screen with gesture support. The ultra-portable PlayBook weighs less than a pound, is run by the BlackBerry Tablet OS, has 1GB of RAM and a 1GHz dual-core processor.

Dubbed as 'the world’s first and only professional-grade tablet' and 'the fastest tablet ever', users will enjoy seamless multi-tasking and be able to interchange their PlayBook and BlackBerry Smartphones without ever having to sync them up, a statement said.

The gaming and entertainment factor of the PlayBook features HD video, HD display, stereo sound and two cameras, one front and one back.

The device is available on a flexible instalments programme from Batelco with payback periods of up to 24 months with zero interest and no advanced payment. Alternatively, customers may add their name to the waiting list to reserve a BlackBerry PlayBook for delivery as soon as possible.

Existing BlackBerry users can enjoy the full device organizer’s features such as e-mail, calendar and BBM contacts on their BlackBerry PlayBook. This can be achieved by linking their BlackBerry Smartphone with their BlackBerry PlayBook through the new BlackBerry Bridge application that comes free with the device.

Batelco offers a variety of BlackBerry price plans to suit all requirements and budgets including the lowest entry package in the market priced at BD8 for both postpaid and prepaid customers.

“At Batelco we place great emphasis on best customer experience and strive to deliver the most up to date products and services to meet the sophisticated demands of our customers,” said Batelco Group general manager Media Relations Ahmed Al Janahi.-TradeArabia News Service
