Over 113,000 .ae domain names registered

Abu Dhabi, March 18, 2014

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has said that as of January 2014, 113,000 .ae domain names have been registered.

It said Etisalat continues to have the largest market share of 69.32 percent, followed by Instra Corporation (9.12 percent) and AEserver (3.61 percent). There are now 21 accredited registrars with the aeDA registry.

The data also reveals that Durraq’s “Tasjeel.ae” has the top growth rate of 30 percent between August 2013 and January 2014, followed by AESERVER at 25 percent, 101Domain at 9 percent, and both Instra Corporation and IP Mirror at 8 percent.

“Our role is to serve the internet community and we encourage local businesses to register with the .ae domain name and enjoy the benefits and flexibility of having such a domain. The .ae businesses will have much more options for names of their websites and makes it easier to search.” said Mohammad Al Zarooni, acting executive director policies and program in the TRA.

The .ae Domain Administration (aeDA) was established in 2007 by the TRA as the regulatory body and registry operator for the (.ae) domain name. aeDA is responsible for enforcing all policies on the operation of the (.ae) country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) as well as overseeing the operation of the registry system.  - TradeArabia News Service
