Etisalat launches Knox for businesses

Abu Dhabi, March 23, 2014

Etisalat, UAE’s leading telecom provider, has launched Samsung Electronics’ Knox solution for business customers.

The solution will enable business customers to separate work and personal data, helping enterprises to manage and secure the device and data at the same time, said a statement.

The growth of enterprise mobility, driven by the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trend, has recently fostered a rapid shift in the enterprise mobility marketplace.

While BYOD encourages flexibility in the enterprise, it poses a risk to the security of the enterprise data on these devices. Hence, there is an inherent need for a solution that would help the enterprise manage and secure the device and data while maintaining the privacy of its employees.

Knox is a new security solution developed by Samsung. It provides security for enterprise data on Android devices, by keeping the individual’s data and applications separate from the work environment.

‘Containerisation’, the process of separating corporate from personal data on Android smart devices significantly reduces the risk of malware and malicious attacks, said the statement.

This enhances security at all levels of the Android platform, from the integrated hardware, infrastructure, through to the applications. It supports users’ privacy to enjoy personal tasks without compromising enterprise security, it said.

The solution is combined with Etisalat’s offerings like Business Ultimate and Business Tablet offering flexibility to customers.

The subscribers can choose from a variety of options ranging from Dh49 ($13.3)  to AED999 per month which can be further augmented with add-on packages for data, roaming and international calling offering rates.

The packages aim to offer the customer a scalable, flexible offering designed specifically to cater to all its business needs. They can also pick the latest devices at zero upfront payments with competitive calling rates and bundled data to experience 4G LTE network.

John Lincoln, senior vice president, Business Marketing, Etisalat, said: “At Etisalat, we always strive to gain a better understanding of the growing needs of our customers by bringing the latest global technologies first to the country. Today’s partnership with Samsung will address the security requirements of the SMEs and large enterprises, while operating on the largest 4G LTE network in UAE.

“This partnership with allow our customers to leverage our advanced network for data, while continuing to operate in a highly secured business environment.” - TradeArabia News Service
