Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco), the headline sponsor and official telecommunications partner of Bahrain International Air Show 2016 (BIAS 2016), and Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, are showcasing smart city solutions at the ongoing show.

 

A selection of smart solutions are being demonstrated at the BIAS exhibition hall including the 'Smart Street Lamp,' an intelligent street lamp post that provides outdoor WiFi connectivity, and featuring a remotely controlled interactive digital advertising/sign board, a built-in mobile charging station and a temperature and humidity sensor, said a statement.

 

The Smart Street Lamppost is a key feature of emerging smart cities and Batelco’s demonstration of this technology is a first step towards demonstrating its capability to start rolling out smart city solutions in the kingdom, it said.

 

Batelco is also showcasing the 'Smart Table' solution; an intelligent coffee table that transforms the conventional living room into an advanced digital space. 

 

The 'Smart Table' features a built-in user panel to control a suite of connected devices, provides living room lighting control and enables users to view CCTV feeds from the comfort of their living room, said the statement.

 

A 'Smart People Counter' Solution is also being demonstrated at the Batelco Stand. 

 

It is an intelligent Internet of Things (IoT) sensor-based solution which monitors and provides statistical reports on the inbound and outbound visitor traffic. 

 

This solution is ideal for large establishments and public areas as it provides valuable intelligence on visitor traffic which includes but not limited to peak/off-peak visitor trading hours, popular entrances and areas.

 

Meanwhile, Batelco is taking the opportunity to showcase Batelco TV which was launched recently to deliver Bahrain’s best TV experience. 

 

The Batelco TV features a Full Digital Home Solution with an excellent selection of entertainment for all internet users in Bahrain including Live broadcast TV channels, on-demand services such as subscription video on demand, new movies on pay-per-view basis, catch-up TV, recording features, games and applications.
