Emirates NBD launches e-donation system

DUBAI, July 12, 2016

Emirates NBD, one of the leading banking groups in the region, has launched a new e-donation system to help customers in the UAE make donations for philanthropic causes through its digital and social platforms.

The bank has in place a ‘Donation’ feature on its online and mobile banking platforms and has now created a ‘Like to Donate’ Facebook app that will allow customers to donate money to their preferred causes via their social media account, said a statement from Emirates NBD.

The initiatives are aimed at encouraging customers to give back to the community in an efficient and convenient way, while also creating a social network of donation, it said.

To donate, customers can click on the Payments tab on Emirates NBD’s online banking site or mobile banking app, where a new option of ‘Donations’ will be accessible under ‘Other Payments’, it added.

Alternatively, customers will also be informed of the ‘Like to Donate’ app through a pop up window when logging in to online/mobile banking. Upon linking their bank accounts with Facebook, customers can view a list of the bank’s trusted partner philanthropic organisations and select the amount of donation per organisation starting at Dh15 ($4.08), said a statement.

To donate, customers would need to ‘like’ the post promoting the philanthropic organisation to contribute a maximum of Dh300 ($81.6) a day to preferred cause (s), at the click of a button, it said.

Abdulla Qassem, group chief operating officer, Emirates NBD, said: “Everyone seeks to make the world a better place but most people don’t have the time or access. Our organisation is truly happy to offer our customers the convenience and accessibility to donate via our digital and social banking platforms.”

“We believe this feature will bring together our customers to make an impact on relevant causes, whether they want to help children in needy countries or contribute to an environmental issue,” he said.

“As the largest bank in the UAE, we are certain that this campaign will raise meaningful donations for our established network of trusted charitable partners who will then be able to use these funds and allocate them toward making a difference,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
