Dubai govt achievements show kicks off today

DUBAI, March 30, 2015

The third Dubai Government Achievements Exhibition (DGAE) opens today (March 30) with the number of participants increasing from 14 to 32 in this year's edition, marking a rise of 44 per cent.

Organised by Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP) that belongs to the Secretariat General of the Dubai Executive Council, the show will continue until April 1 with participation mostly from the Government of Dubai departments and bodies with presence of some federal government and regional government participations.

The DGAE is themed ‘Local Government and Global Achievements’ with innovation topping its agenda.

The departments and bodies will open the platforms to educate visitors about their services and achievements, and the smart solutions that make it easier for customers accomplish their work and contribute to raising the standards of happiness in the Emirate.

Several departments will display the journey of developing the services and their support to raising the efficiency of their national capacities. They will also focus on the field of innovation and creativity by government bodies, which has been a new phase in governmental work, especially in the field of smart government.

Abdullah Al Shibani, secretary-general of the Dubai Executive Council, and chairman of DGEP said: “Dubai Government Achievements Exhibition will reflect the Executive Council's commitment to implementing the vision of Dubai Government and confirms the success of ongoing efforts to support innovation in government work. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to review, over three days, the achievements of the government bodies mainly at the servicing front.”

Dr Ahmed Al Nuseirat, coordinator general, DGEP said: “Local and international visitors will get to know the developing process of government services in all its forms, and share with them the inspiring success stories. We received very positive feedback from participants as well as local and international visitors for the benefit they obtained from participating in the previous edition of the show, and this is what motivates us to expand participation and support the expo's development.”

Dubai Municipality and Dubai Land Department are Strategic Sponsors of the event; Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) is Strategic Media Sponsor, and Expo 2020 is Strategic Partner.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality said:  “We believe that government work in Dubai is on the right track, and government departments are doing their best to improve their services under the direction of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. Dubai Municipality is supporting this approach and we value the efforts of Dubai Government and DGEP to add innovative elements in the show.”

Hani Al Hamli, Secretary-General, Dubai Economic Council noted that the Council's involvement in the exhibition is linked to its strategy of supporting positive enablers of economic policies, and hailed it as an important event not only to showcase achievements, but also to exchange experiences and learn from other success stories.

Hani Al Hamli said: “We expect strong participation in this year’s edition. Based on the experience of the participating government departments in previous editions, we are confident the show will climb new heights of success, because of the many dramatic developments in types of services provided to the community, especially after the launch of series of innovation-driven initiatives by Government of Dubai aimed at transforming Dubai into a smart city in every sense.”

Dubai Customs is also set to take part in the show 2015 with 10 new projects that were developed to further streamline Customs procedures for passengers and consignments, while at the same time keeping both the economy and the community safe.

Dubai Courts will feature its ‘Smart Detention’ Programme, ‘Private Notary Services’ and ‘Al Salfa’ initiatives, Centre for Amicable Settlement of Disputes, and ‘Shoor’ Programme. All these initiatives are in line with the UAE’s efforts to transform into a smart government through services that will help people attain happy and improved lives.

Ahmed bin Mishar Al Muhairi, secretary general of The Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) in Dubai said that SLC marks its first participation in DGAE this year.

He added that SLC should contribute through its achievements and services to reflect a true picture of the legislative system of the Emirate, which is one of the most important pillars of building societies, development, prosperity, and holds evidence of excellence and leadership. – TradeArabia News Service
