Du TV brings best on demand entertainment shows

DUBAI, June 30, 2015

Dubai-based telecommunications operator du has brought the best entertainment programming across all genres, categories and screens this Ramadan.

The award-winning Islamic channel Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) has returned to du TV on channels 10 and 653 and, for the first time, it is available on du View, giving customers the flexibility of watching the ceremony from any enabled mobile device, as well as their TV, said a statement.

The customers can also access their favourite entertainment programming from the largest Arab Broadcast Networks. The programming from OSN, MBC, Dubai Media Incorporated and Abu Dhabi Media Company will be available in HD, with du PVR capabilities allowing users to watch 1 program while recording another.

Du has launched a special Ramadan web site to showcase its top TV shows.

In addition, all du TV customers can watch up to 200 Arabic movies as well as 150 first run TV episodes for free on du Movies On Demand, On Demand Club and du View.

It has also secured the rights to the very first run of anticipated television shows ‘Thahab wa awda’ and ‘Cello’ on broadcast and digital platforms for its viewers in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.

Additionally, du will release three popular 2014 TV series ‘Marvellous Stories from Quran’, ‘Ebn Halal’ and ‘What If’, for the first time on digital platforms.

Families and kids can enjoy newly released and classic Disney movies on du’s On Demand Club for free, available on both du TV and du View, ensuring the best entertainment for the entire family to enjoy this Ramadan.

Fahad Al Hassawi, chief commercial officer, du, said: “Today’s viewers are mobile and expect to access their favourite content anywhere, not just at home, and following their own schedule. The customer considers an on demand television viewing experience as a right, not a privilege. At du we ensure that we offer all our customers the best television services by giving them control over their own viewing experience this Ramadan.

“Our valued clients now have the option to access this additional content free of charge and on demand from any enabled device, further cementing our continued commitment to always surprising and delighting them in new and exciting ways.”

To access this selection of content during Ramadan, customers just have to press the VOD button on their remote control and select either ‘Movies On Demand’ or ‘On Demand Club’ where they will easily find all the content. Those using du View simply need to select On Demand Club if they are not at home, or watching TV.

The du View application is free to all du TV subscribers, and can be downloaded for free from the Apple Store, Google Play, Xbox One Market Place or Samsung Smart Hub. - TradeArabia News Service
