Zuazua ... innovation is an art.

AT Kearney book highlights sustainable innovation

DUBAI, July 13, 2015

A T Kearney, a leading global management consulting firm, has published a book providing insights and inspiration to drive innovation in the GCC and globally.

Titled “Masters of Innovation: Building the Perpetually Innovative Company” is based on more than a decade of insights on innovation.

“Innovation is not an art, it is a capability,” said Mauricio Zuazua, partner at A T Kearney Middle East, Economic Development and Innovation Practices.

“It is more than creativity or high R&D spend. Innovation requires an ecosystem that integrates creativity with business rigor to drive value. Interestingly, we’ve found that this applies to government organizations and to companies equally, and, although it isn’t easy, the good news is that any organization can build this capability.”

Although the past 15 years have brought a flood of books about innovation, filled with stories of ‘eureka moments’ and charismatic leaders, they did little to teach businesses about their own innovation capabilities. This book is the manual for creating a sustainable, innovative organization.

“Innovation is not a fad restricted to the technology sector. It is the most important and only sustainable source of economic growth for companies and countries,” said Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman, World Economic Forum.

“By providing a wide range of engaging case studies, Masters of Innovation highlights the practical ways that companies can continuously improve and execute their innovation strategies in an increasingly complex and competitive global business environment.”

The book explores the strong correlation between innovation excellence sustainable, profitable growth, breaking down innovation into five pragmatic management practices:

•    Building the foundation of an innovative organization

•    Future-proofing an innovation strategy

•    Optimizing the value of the innovation portfolio

•    Increasing innovation efficiency and speed

•    Improving innovation profitability

The book shares the insights from companies such as Ferrari, 3M, Whirlpool, Coca-Cola, and Volkswagen. Case studies are across sectors such as automotive, fashion, consumer goods, transportation and high tech—sectors where perpetual innovators are thriving. – TradeArabia News Service
