Top emirati artist's first solo show to open in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, December 22, 2015

Salwa Zeidan Gallery has revealed the date of the opening for the first solo for the emerging emirati artist Fatema Al Mazrouie, dedicated to Sheikh Zayed.

The opening of the exhibition 'Man Who Built a Nation,' in the presence of the artist will take place on January 12 in the gallery’s showroom within The Collection, St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort.

Vanja Rontini, gallery manager, said: “After successful sales at Sotheby’s and acquisition of two of the artist’s works by Zayed National Museum, we felt that early 2016 would be an ideal time for her first solo show, envisioned as a tribute to His Highness Sheikh Zayed – the artist felt this homage to him would be the only way to truly honour the tremendous value and impact this exceptional leader has had on her life and the lives of the people of the Emirates.”

Al Mazrouie is an emerging, talented UAE artist. After graduating in visual arts and design from Zayed University, her artistic career took off in the Salwa Zeidan Gallery where she participated in most of the gallery group shows.

Her first auctioned painting was at Sotheby’s in 2010. In 2013, she was chosen as the gallery’s featured Signature artist at Art Abu Dhabi, where several of her works were purchased by Zayed National Museum.

She participated in three international group exhibitions which took place in London, while her artworks earned her a spot among the 50 Emirati artists at the Art Foundation Paris.

Al Mazrouei was also selected as one of the participating artists of 'Portrait of the Nation' show in 2016, organised by ADMAF.

“As an Emirati woman, I can’t help but accredit all of the opportunities and support we receive to Sheikh Zayed’s profound respect for women. His progressive vision has brought forth much understanding for the importance of education and evolution – a legacy that continues to help our people prosper long after his passing," said Al Mazrouei.

"This collection celebrates the attributes of our culture that I am proudest of. I hope the viewers enjoy my representation of our proud heritage and my sincere wish is for this exhibition to be a reminder of the importance of putting forward a sincere and selfless effort for our beautiful country to continue to grow and prosper – a true reflection of the immeasurable contribution of Sheikh Zayed in making the UAE one of the most prosperous countries in the world today,” she added. - TradeArabia News Service
