FDIC Bahrain opens today

The second Fire Department Instructors Conference and Exhibition (FDIC Bahrain) opened its doors to fire, health and safety professionals of the Middle East, today at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre.

Jeremy Richardson, event director of FDIC Bahrain, said: “We are delighted at the support given by the Ministry of the Interior, General Directorate and Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Bureau, without whom this event would not have taken place.”

“With an immense amount of organisation for the hands-on-training programme, at a number of locations around Manama, the assistance of the General Directorate of Civil Defence has been invaluable and it has contributed significantly towards a successful two days of training for the fire fighters of the GCC countries.”

FDIC Bahrain is the leading exhibition and conference for fire, health & safety professionals and the only dedicated event for the fire industry in the Gulf region.

The inaugural events in 2006 saw around 1200 fire industry professionals attend the exhibition and conference. This year, the event is expected to see an increase in attendance, Richardson said .

The exhibition will be see around 100 companies exhibiting their products and services for today’s fire, health and safety professionals for the construction, oil & gas, petrochemical, industrial, marine and aviation industries, as well as Civil Defence. The exhibition will showcase the latest in equipment and technology that enables the fire, health and safety professional to do their job.

The conference will continue for three days, and conclude on December 13

Meanwhile, nearly 100 fire fighters from the GCC countries attended two days of hands-on-training in real live situations including refinery fires, basement fires, structural fires, high rise rescue, flange fires and high angle rope rescue.
