Dubai DED simplifies licensing

Dubai, April 7, 2009

The business registration and licensing division at the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) has initiated restructuring of several licensing procedures to simplify doing business in Dubai.

As a result of the initiative, DED has terminated the use of ‘smart chip’ in administering trade licenses, advertisement permits, banking collaterals and bank deposit certificates at its branches.

Sami Al Qamzi, director general, DED, said: “DED’s strategic objective is to create an investor-friendly environment in Dubai which will encourage investors to consider Dubai as their investment destination of choice. We have therefore simplified several licensing procedures to further ease the process of setting up businesses.”

“The business registration and licensing division at DED is constantly looking for ways to ease trade licensing procedures,” said Mohammed Shael, CEO, business registration and licensing division, DED.

“Terminating the use of the Smart Chip will help customers save much time and effort.  They can now set up businesses with the minimum of procedures and paperwork,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
