Alba volunteers clean up beach

Manama, August 25, 2009

Volunteers from Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) recently conducted a two-day clean-up campaign at the Malkiya beach in Bahrain.

More than 40 volunteers – comprising members of Alba’s Community Services Committee and their families – cleared waste, debris and assorted litter from the beach and received words of appreciation from the local community for their efforts.

Alba’s chief operating officer and head of Alba Community Services Committee, Mohammed Mahmood remarked: “Alba has a keen sense of corporate social responsibility that underlines many of our community service initiatives. This particular campaign was initiated to help restore the natural beauty of Malkya beach, protect marine life and contribute to the welfare of the local community.

Special recognition was also given to families in Malkiya who have been involved in regular clean-up operations at the beach. They were given prizes in honour of their efforts and were praised for their commitment to their community.  –TradeArabia News Service
