Grand Cinemas, the UAE based cinema company, is set to launch a mobile application that will allow checking its movie listings, booking the seats and paying them on the mobile phone.

The Grand Cinemas Mobile Application (M-Application) is a smart webpage service where information about all movies screened at all locations, their timings, and the available seats are listed along with an option to book and pay immediately.

Payments are made via credit cards through a safe and secure system supported by SSL 128-bit encryption.

Users then can print out their own tickets using the self-service kiosks available at various Grand Cinema locations which are programmed to automatically recognise registered users’ credit card details.

The application is free for download on grandcinemas.com/mobile for users of iPhones, Blackberries, or any other mobiles enabled with WAP and GPRS.

It is specifically designed to optimise the screen size of a mobile handset, and is the quickest way to book and pay for tickets using a mobile phone, a statement said.

“We know that passionate movie goers are always looking to be the first to see the world’s largest blockbusters and are generally disappointed when they have to wait for hours to get good seats or even get a ticket,” said Jean Ramia, group operations director for Grand Cinemas.

“The M-Application has been especially designed to give them fast and easy access to the latest releases in the UAE. In the short period since its launch, the M-Application has been downloaded more than 3000 times by avid movie lovers are now enjoying the facilities brought by this innovative service,” he added.

The M-Application is powered by LG Mobile which contributed to bringing this application to consumers in the UAE in a timely manner.
