Designers get together for platform launch

Dubai, August 28, 2011

Some of the region’s brightest fashion designers came together recently for a photo shoot in Dubai as part of the launch of the new United Designers concept.

The unveiling of the first installment of designers took place at a studio session in Al Quoz, where the Fall/Winter 2011 collective shared tips, design philosophies, inspirations and aspirations between video diary and photography sessions.

The fashion project is set to change the face of Dubai’s fashion industry by showcasing the unique designs of some of Dubai’s most established fashion designers amongst the region’s most promising new talent.

As part of their relationship with United Designers they will not only benefit from an exciting launch platform, but will receive essential support in the commercialisation of their brand on an industry-wide scale.

“The concept behind United Designers is unique and brings freshness to the Dubai fashion scene,” said Nadine Mezher, fashion philanthropist and designer behind accessories label nawá, which will be sold in the United Designers boutique.

“I feel privileged to be part of such an exciting hub for talented local designers, bringing together the different styles from this region. I believe a boutique like UD is much needed to contribute to the development of the region’s fashion industry.”

Managing director and visionary behind United Designers, Yahya Stapic, said: “There’s a huge amount of fashion talent in the Middle East, particularly here in the UAE. I recognised the local industry and media’s eagerness for something fresh, as they are constantly looking to support and expose UAE designers to wider horizons. However, many of the designers lacked a platform and the commercial and strategic frameworks to give them the tools and expertise required to fully realise their potential.

“United Designers is the ideal platform for the designers to shine brighter and is not only about discovering and nurturing new and existing fashion talent in the UAE, but also mentoring so they can build their brand. United Designers is the new generation of the UAE fashion scene and we’re extremely excited about what it means for the local fashion industry as a whole,” he added.

Jarmila Nikodijevic Fryntova, ATI’s marketing manager, said: "We’re delighted all the hard work turning this fantastic concept into reality is now coming to fruition. With the designers all here today to begin the campaign, the fashion lines are nearly complete and the store will be open next month.

“It’s been a long journey since United Designers and Yahya won last year’s The Big Start competition and we now feel we’ve truly created a sustainable opportunity to encourage entrepreneurship among some truly inspiring talent.”

The United Designers boutique will open in Dubai’s Mirdif City Centre mid-September, with designs from the inaugural collections and further information to be released over coming weeks. – TradeArabia News Service
