Bahrain’s summer work ban success
Manama, September 8, 2011
There was 99 per cent compliance with a summer work ban implemented during July and August in Bahrain, said a senior government official.
A total of 20,246 inspections had detected 106 violations in the two months, added Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan.
“Those caught violating the work ban, between noon and 4pm, were fined between BD50 ($132.6) and BD300,” he said.
The number of violations was very small compared with the number of worksites in the country, he added.
“We also have feedback from companies that they have increased their productivity during the ban period and from Salmaniya Medical Complex that the number of cases of heat exhaustion had fallen considerably.” – TradeArabia News Service
