Bahrain eGovt forum set for next month

MANAMA, February 8, 2015

The eighth Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2015 will be held next month at the Isa Cultural Centre and Bahrain International Circuit, a report said.

It will be held from March 15 to 19, under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The event is organised by the eGovernment Authority in partnership with the Bahrain Society of Engineers, Project Management Institute (Bahrain Chapter) and YouthTech Society.

This year, the event has been extended to five days in order to successfully focus on the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the field of eGovernment.

A number of officials from the region and across the world as well as international speakers will be taking part.

The European Union and the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) Global will take part for the first time this year.

Awards

The EU will be represented by 50 delegates made up of experts and officials in the field of smart cities.

During the official opening of the forum, winners of eGovernment Excellence Award 2015 will be awarded by Shaikh Mohammed.

The plenary sessions will address key topics including 'Smart Cities' and policies towards shifting to smart cities.

University of Fairland, US, lecturer Dr John Burton will give a talk on 'Information Policies Expansion Associated with Smart Cities Implementations' along with Professor Claude Rojetto who will highlight France's experience in the field.

The main topics that will be covered in the workshops from March 17 are: Mastering Social Media Innovation Tools Workshop organised by the Social Media Club, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in ICT Environment organised by Ebtikar Society, Big Data and the Future organised by Bahrain Information Technology Society, Holistic Business Process Management: Improvement of Transformation organised by Future Smith, and Building Defensible Critical Information Infrastructure organised by ISACA Bahrain Chapter, among other workshops in the field of project management, and eGovernment Success Stories organised by the eGovernment Authority. – TradeArabia News Service
