Man’oushe Street, Uber-Dubai to donate free Iftar meals

DUBAI, July 3, 2015

Man’oushe Street, a popular Middle Eastern restaurant that serves traditional, home-styled street food, has tied-up with Uber-Dubai, the local arm of the international transportation network company, to donate free Iftar meal packages to labourers and Uber partner drivers.

Under the initiative, Uber riders can enter the promo code ‘UberIftar’ via the Uber mobile app, which represents a donation of one free Iftar meal that will later be distributed to local both Uber partner drivers and labourers across the emirate.

According to the company’s senior executives, Man’oushe Street will be donating hundreds of free Iftar meal packages (Manakeesh) daily for the duration of the holy month of Ramadan—allotting the meals for both the Tecom and Burj Views area.

The strategic location of these pick-up points will give drivers the advantage of going for prayers at a nearby mosque and taking Iftar before resuming work.

Jihad El Eit, founder and chief executive officer, Man’oushe Street, said: “Man’oushe Street joins the whole world in celebrating the Holy Month of Ramadan and to help make it more meaningful, we have tied up with Uber-Dubai and have pledged to donate free Iftar meals to labourers and Uber partner drivers in Dubai.

“Every year, we give away free Manakeesh meals to help the needy celebrate Iftar after a day of fasting. This Ramadan, Man’oushe Street has pledged to hand out free meals to help Uber taxi drivers and to labourers break their fast. We thank Uber Dubai for partnering with us on this truly worthwhile initiative.”

JP Mondalek, general manager, Uber-Dubai, said: “Ramadan is a chance for us to look at how we can go beyond transport and use our technology in a way that reflects the true spirit of this month.

“Partnering with Man’oushe Street makes it easy for riders to help members of the community break their fast. We are proud to be part of this initiative. We look forward to working closely with Man’oushe Street with future programs that aims at giving back to the local community.” - TradeArabia News Service
