Bahrain simplifies clearance of packages

MANAMA, September 9, 2015

Bahrain has introduced a simplified manual customs database system to facilitate the clearance of packages arriving at the kingdom's airport for individuals, said a report.

Customs President Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa said as per the new system implemented on September 3,
importers can either personally come to the airport or assign clearance agents to collect the package.

Under the new system, they will not have to pay any extra money other than the fee of Bahrain Airport Service Company (BAS), Shaikh Mohammed was quoted as saying by the Bahrain News Agency.

He said that the new system was part of the dedication of the Customs Affairs to upgrade systems to better serve the clients.
