Toyota Motor Corp said on Wednesday it would recall about 1.2 million units of the Noah minivan and other models in Japan as well as about 140,000 Avensis models overseas to fix faulty fuel pipes and high-pressure fuel pumps.

The recall for the models sold in Japan covers those manufactured between May 2000 and October 2008.   

In two other filings on Wednesday, Toyota said it would recall about 75,000 Crown models and about 6,200 Townace vans in Japan.   

Shares of Toyota extended a decline after the announcement and were down 2 percent in late afternoon trade.
   
Toyota said in a filing to Japan's transport ministry that no accidents had been reported related to the defects. Toyota spokeswoman Shiori Hashimoto said the carmaker does not disclose estimates for recall costs.  

The latest recalls bring the total number of Toyota-made vehicles recalled worldwide since late 2009 to more than 15 million, dealing a blow to the automaker's efforts to restore its reputation for quality.

In the most recent big recall, Toyota said in October it would fix 1.66 million Avalons, Highlanders and other models worldwide mainly for a defect in the master cylinder brake seal.

Most of the 15 million global recalls have been in the United States, where Toyota's worst safety crisis has attracted intense scrutiny from safety regulators.
