2016 Lexus ES luxury sedan arrives in UAE

DUBAI, September 8, 2015

Al-Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributor of Lexus in the UAE, launched today (September 8) the new 2016 Lexus ES luxury sedan in the Emirates market.

The 2016 ES features a sportier attitude, highlighted by progressive exterior styling, an enhanced luxurious interior and Lexus Safety System +, a new safety system.

“Lexus ES is renowned in the UAE as the reference for elegance and exceptional comfort. With the striking design, refinement, and cutting edge technology introduced to the 2016 model, we are very confident that the luxury sedan will appeal to a wider range of customers in its class.” said Chris Buxton, general manager of Lexus at Al-Futtaim Motors.

The ES is offered in four new exterior colours: Amber, Sonic Quartz, Graphite Black, and Deep Blue. Like the six existing choices, each features Lexus’ innovative cutting-edge paint technology designed to allow the paint’s clear coat to heal itself even from light damage, a statement said.

The 2016 model features a collection of new interior colour combinations, including exquisite multi-colour themes that exemplify elegance. The seats are now offered in four different colours: Topaz Brown, Ivory, Moon Stone, and Black.

In addition, four styles of interior trim have been carefully selected to harmonize with the colour choice: Bamboo, Black Metallic, Bird’s Eye Maple, and Shimamoku.

A new, sporty steering wheel provides better driving engagement. A large 4.2-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) colour multi-information display conveniently places vital vehicle and route information as well as multimedia information front and center. To further enhance Remote Touch Interface (RTI) control, the 2016 ES adds “Enter” buttons on either side of the interface controller.

The ES offers Lexus Safety System +, which combines key innovative safety technologies into a single, package. Among them are the Pre-Crash System (PCS), which can detect vehicles and pedestrians, in some circumstances, by a combination of millimetre-wave radar and front-facing camera. It dispatches a warning as Brake Assist (BA) and emergency braking are activated. The Lane Departure Alert (LDA) employs a camera to keep track of visible lane marking lines on the road.

The Automatic High Beam (AHB) senses headlights from oncoming traffic and the taillight of the car in front, automatically adjusting hi-beam and low-beam illumination to help ensure optimal forward visibility during nighttime driving.

The Adaptive Cruise Control uses millimetre-wave radar to detect the speed of the vehicle ahead in order to adjust the cruise control speed setting accordingly, helping maintain a preset distance. This system also uses a combination of millimetre-wave radar and camera to detect a lane change by the vehicle in front for smooth acceleration and deceleration control.

The new ES is available for sale in the UAE across all Lexus showrooms starting from Dh160,000 ($43,500).
