Over 1m vehicles plying on Abu Dhabi roads

ABU DHABI, February 6, 2016

The Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department of the Abu Dhabi Police announced that the number of vehicles in Abu Dhabi has risen to 1.016 million vehicles during the past year.

The department has set these vehicles in seven different categories; notably light vehicles numbering 908,000; heavy vehicles (45,885), heavy buses (18,590), light buses (2,758) and heavy duty machinery (23,051), light duty machinery (7,518) and motorcycles (10,389).

The department also stressed the provision of its various services to vehicles owners wherever they are in their areas of residence.

Colonel Suhail Saeed Al Khaiaili, the chief of the vehicles licensing section at the te department, said all vehicle licensing transactions and other services are easily provided through the Ministry of Interior’s smart application UAE-MOI, and the "Sahel" device, which provides a complete set of state-of-art technologies to the service.

He also pointed out the ongoing efforts to provide diverse service delivery channels was part of the Abu Dhabi government’s vision, aimed at making use of technical possibilities in the various service delivery platforms in order to make services easily available and accessible and to save customers’ time and effort.

“Abu Dhabi comprises 50 service centers; 24 in Abu Dhabi, 16 in Al Ain, and 10 in the western region. The service centers across the national institutions, government departments, and national and private companies that deal with vehicles are also comprised in these centers,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
