Nassiriya eyes massive output surge

Basra, May 22, 2010

Production at Iraq's Nassiriya oilfield is expected to hit 100,000 barrels per day (bpd) in 2014, Dhiya Jaafar, head of state-run South Oil Company (SOC) told Reuters on Friday.

The current output from Nassiriya is 10,000 bpd, and SOC's plan is to raise it to 50,000 bpd next year, Jaafar said in an interview in the southern oil hub of Basra.
