Shell appoints new Dubai country chairman

Royal Dutch Shell board has appointed industry veteran Mark Carne as the company's new country chairman for Dubai and Northern Emirates region.

He will take over the responsibilities of Raoul Restucci for Shell Upstream International and the businesses in the Mena region, as executive vice president and country chairman for Shell Group of Companies in Dubai and Northern Emirates, said a statement from Royal Dutch Shell.

He is also a member of Royal Dutch Shell’s Upstream International Leadership Team, it stated.

Mark was employed with Shell until 2005, his last role being managing director for Brunei Shell Petroleum. He also worked in upstream assets and held a number of commercial and general management roles in the UK and the Netherlands.

Mark’s first Middle East assignment was as engineering manager with Petroleum Development Oman from 1992 to 1996.  In 2005, Mark joined BG Group as executive vice president and managing director - Europe and Central Asia.

Mark assumed his present position in September, the statement said.

Mark holds a B.Sc in Engineering Science from the University of Exeter, UK and a Chartered Diploma in accounting and finance from the Cambridge College of Arts and Technology, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
