GPIC completes universal periodic maintenance

MANAMA, April 21, 2015

All procedures to carry out the universal periodic maintenance at Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) have been completed, it was announced yesterday (April 20).

GPIC president Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery said this was done successfully while maintaining the continuity of operations with high efficiency and maintaining regular productivity, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Dr Jawahery thanked everyone involved in the operations as well as those responsible for ensuring it was a success, whether government or private organisations.

He said they had made significant contributions in facilitating the movement of equipment to be used in the operation in a very competent and professional manner.

He praised the high level of co-operation between various parties involved and stressed that such co-ordination and co-operation from the government and private sector was a national effort that would most certainly influence the Bahrain economy and benefit the country.

He said the equipment that was brought to the site included some manufactured in Bahrain workshops while some also came from as far away as Italy, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Japan, Singapore and Austria.

Some other equipment came into Bahrain from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

He said this had all been made possible by the active support of the company's board under the chairmanship of Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa.

Various government and private agencies, including Interior Ministry's Customs Affairs Directorate, Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry and Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Ministry as well as the management of the Khalifa Bin Salman Port facilitated equipment reaching the plant on time.

GPIC implements a comprehensive maintenance process for the plants every two-and-a-half years, during which factories and equipment undergo extensive overhaul in collaboration with international and national manufacturers and specialists, as well as consulting firms. - TradeArabia News Service
