Oman to charge plastics complex $5 per MBTU of gas

MUSCAT, December 18, 2015

Oman will charge state-owned Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Co (Orpic) $5 per million British thermal units (MBTU) of gas at the Liwa plastics complex, instead of the standard $3, the undersecretary of oil and gas said on Thursday.

Asked if the government would increase the gas price at future projects, Salim Al-Aufi said: "It's a trend. We are selling the gas at this price to Liwa project, because we believe the project can sustain such price. And will be doing the same and negotiate higher gas prices whenever the projects can afford and sustain this price." - Reuters
