Trelleborg wins key UAE engineering contract

cop, March 8, 2017

Trelleborg, a Swedish engineering group focused on polymer technology, has won a major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for an offshore oilfield development project in the UAE, said a report.

As per the contract, Trelleborg will complete the installation of an accommodation platform, a gas treatment platform and a separation platform besides supplying floatover equipment for the project, reported Offshore Engineer.

Trelleborg's floatover fenders are used to limit the motion of a topside transport barge within the confines of a jacket slot during the floatover mating operation, it stated.

"With three offshore platforms and a broad range of solutions from our oil and gas portfolio required, this is one of the largest scale projects that we have undertaken to date," remarked JP Chia, the engineering manager at Trelleborg Offshore & Construction.

As part of this package, Trelleborg recently fabricated and delivered 22 sway fenders, engineered to withstand up to 320 tonnes, and six surge fenders, engineered to bear 75 tonnes per unit, for use across each of the three platforms, he added.

A world leader in engineered polymer solutions that seal, damp and protect critical applications in demanding environments, Trelleborg is active in over 40 countries in the development of engineered polymer solutions that seal, damp and protect critical applications in demanding environments.
