Oil Plus announces key Middle East appointments

UAE, June 18, 2017

UK-based Oil Plus, a specialist energy consultancy, has announced two key appointments - Peter Sanders as technical manager and Clarke Shepherd as global business development director - to strengthen its position in the Middle East region and globally.

The appointment comes as the company plans to boost its operations in Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE and India as well as strengthening its relationship with an existing strategic partner in Kuwait, said a statement from the company.

This will be supported by opening a new regional laboratory over the coming months, it stated.

Sanders, an oil and gas science veteran with over 30 years’ experience, was previously with the Danish Technological Institute where he led a team of PhD level scientists in areas such as biocide evaluation, Microbially Enhanced Oil Recovery, Reservoir Souring and Microbially Influenced Corrosion Risk Assessment.

Prior to this he was employed in Saudi Arabia by Saudi Aramco initially as a senior scientist in oilfield microbiology, before progressing through to a supervisory role covering corrosion and inorganic scaling. He began his career at Oil Plus in 1988.

Shepherd, an experienced project controls and business development manager, joins from supporting upstream developments for Maersk Oil, where he held the position of project controls specialist. With 14 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, he has also previously worked with Premier Oil, Parkmead Group, LR Senergy and BP.

Shepherd is also the co-founder of Aberdeen-based Evolve Group, where he heads up the recently launched software development division, Evolve iMS.

In their new roles, Sanders and Shepherd will support Oil Plus in providing clients with advice on the design of efficient production facilities and cost-effective operations, said the statement.

On his appointment, Sanders said: “Our company already has successfully established itself in the Middle East and I am confident Clarke and I can help to grow this presence.”

“After more than a decade of work in the region, I have observed how the industry here works and can see where the services provided by Oil Plus can help operators work more effectively and efficiently through site specific maintenance, monitoring, mitigation solutions and training programmes,” he stated.

Kevin Murray, the managing director at Oil Plus, said: “It’s an exciting time for us as we grow in existing and new markets. Bringing Sanders and Shepherd on-board will inject a wealth of experience and knowledge into our team and sets us up to make the most of the opportunities we foresee in the Middle East in particular.”

“Increasing our presence will enhance the range of services we can provide to clients in the region. It will also enable us to manage quick turnaround projects on time and within budget,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
