Smallest Quran at The Bride Show

Dubai, April 27, 2008

The smallest copy of the Quran in the world is being displayed at The Bride Show in Dubai.

The book is drawing crowds of visitors to see one of the most fascinating and technologically-advanced products set into spectacular pieces of jewellery, the organisers said.

Using the latest nanotechnology, Mir Enterprises Limited Managing Director Dr Mir Emad Mokhtari has created possibly the most meaningful gift for a loved one.

Written on sapphire, the second strongest stone, with either platinum or 24 ct gold writing, the entire stone spans 58mm by 98mm, and was officially registered as the smallest copy of the Quran in the world at Astan-e Qods Razavi’s Quran museum in Iran.

Almost three times smaller than its closest competitor, these ‘miniature’ Qurans contain 10,000 lines of text written flawlessly in the stone and are placed on rings and pendants allowing grooms and brides to wear the holy text on their big day.

Designed by Vibha Rupani, the text is appropriately adorned with diamonds, rubies and white and yellow gold, and can be brought home for 15,000dhs.

“Currently there are only twenty microchips this size in existence, and we do not plan on making many more,” said Dr Mokhtari.

“In keeping with the respect for the Quran, this will never be mass produced; only a few will be made for those who want to keep the words close to them, especially for important events.”

The Stone, Meqa or Micro Engineering of Quran as Art, is a unique product has taken two years to create, and has come to fruition through previous larger prototype.

The surface is protected by a quartz layer to ensure the holy text is not touched and allows the jewellery to be worn. – TradeArabia News Service
