Panasonic launches new Viera plasma TV

Dubai, October 21, 2009

Panasonic, the Japanese consumer electronics leader, has launched its Z-series Viera plasma TV, the world’s first full-time full high-definition model with a thickness of one inch and the ability to deploy Internet television options.

The total Viera line-up includes models in seven series – Z, V, G, S, X, C and A – each offering high-image-quality and networking functions. Screen sizes range from 19 to 103 inches.

“The Z Series Vieras are ultra-slim, stylish, environmentally-friendly, network-ready, and offer the industry’s highest efficiency, without compromising on outstanding picture quality,” says Abby Thomas, senior manager, Panasonic Marketing Middle East.

At Viera’s core is Panasonic’s NeoPDP technology. Designed to achieve next-generation levels of efficiency and picture quality, NeoPDP technology represents advances in three key areas: a new cell structure, new materials and processes, and a new drive.

Viera LCD models feature an IPS Alpha panel with a large aperture ratio. This advanced panel provides clear moving pictures, high contrast, and a wide colour viewing angle, said a statement.

The premium Viera Z Series combines superb functionality with a slim, fully flat, one-inch design. Z Series models deliver 1080-line moving picture resolution and a dynamic contrast of more than 2,000,000:1.

Further developments have been made to the popular Viera Link facility, where one can use the Viera remote control to operate devices connected to a Viera TV via an HDMI cable.

With its lead-free and 100,000-hour long-life plasma display panels, Panasonic continues to create products that stand out for environmental performance. The products themselves are environment-friendly, and incorporate environment-friendly functions, the statement added.

Eco mode, for example, reduces power consumption by automatically adjusting screen luminance according to room brightness and other viewing conditions.

The launch of the Z Series plasma TV took place at Gitex Technology Week, which is running at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre and will close tomorrow (October 22). – TradeArabia News Service
