Jacky’s unveils first tablet-based e-raffle

Dubai, September 26, 2012

Multi-brand consumer electronics retailer, Jacky’s Electronics, has introduced its first-ever tablet-based e-raffle, the largest electronic raffle draw taking place at Gitex Shopper 2012.

This is in line with promoting the company’s green initiative, with its Jacky’s Eco-Exchange programme. Jacky’s is moving from paper-based draw allowing customers to easily enter the raffle electronically through the use of an App developed by the company allowing a single input on a tablet instead of the hassle of filling numerous paper coupons.

With the new e-raffle, customers shopping at Jacky’s outlets are also automatically entered in the draw immediately after their purchase, a statement from the company said. This gives a better raffle method as Jacky’s is no longer transporting the entered coupons from the outlets to Gitex Shopper during draws.

In addition, Jacky’s is also providing a more consumer-friendly and better product experience via a new set-up of the product stands that will provide quick turnaround and smooth flow of customers.

The company has also increased its retail space to 1,490 sq m becoming the largest retailer in terms of floor space at the exhibition.

Ashish Panjabi, chief operating officer of Jacky’s Electronics, said: “As a member of the society, we have always thought of ways to protect and improve the state of our environment. During large exhibitions like Gitex Shopper every company is holding raffle draws, and we have been using a huge amount of paper for raffle coupons.”

“This year, we have decided to move away from paper-based draws and use electronic raffles by using tablets instead, to minimise the paper wastage not only at the Gitex Shopper but across all our retail outlets as well.”

“Meanwhile, the accessibility of the new venue of Gitex Shopper is expected to draw in different set of customers particularly residents from Jumeirah and communities after the fifth interchange of Sheikh Zayed Road. Like any other year, we are aiming to offer great value to our customer through exciting promotions and a host of the latest products.”

“Also this year has been about mobility in the form of smartphones, tablets or ultrabooks and we’ve seen several design innovations and advances in core operating systems.”

“Most of the ultrabooks that we're selling in the event can be upgraded to Windows 8 using the upgrade cards that will be availed at the exhibition. These are fairly reasonably priced and while final pricing isn't out yet, these cards will be priced less than Dh100 though some brands have announced that they will give this upgrade for free.”

Jacky’s will also retail a host of latest products offerings from digital cameras, gaming devices, televisions, and MP3 players. Other activities to be staged by Jacky’s at the exhibitions include radio roadshows and on-the-spot competitions, the statement said.

The company also partnered with several leading banks in the UAE to provide 0 per cent instalment payment plans during Gitex.

Gitex Shopper will be held at Sheikh Saeed Halls in Dubai World Trade Centre from September 29 to October 6. – TradeArabia News Service
