Visa launches Fifa promotion in Bahrain

Manama, January 21, 2014

Visa, one of the world’s largest retail electronic payments networks, has launched a promotion to send one valued cardholder in Bahrain to the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil final match.

The match will be hosted at the Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro on July 13.

The campaign, set to run between January 1 and February 28, connects with football fans across Bahrain by driving preference for and usage of Visa products. It is also to promote Visa’s partnership with the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil, by enhancing purchasing experiences for all cardholders through awarding great prizes.

Throughout the campaign, Visa cardholders will enter a raffle draw each time they make a purchase while they are abroad using their credit, prepaid, gift or debit Visa card.

At the end, one lucky winner will get an unmatched opportunity to experience Brazil through an all-expense paid trip, including airline tickets, meet and greet arrangements, transportation, hotel accommodation, and final game tickets, as well as their own prepaid Visa card covering their pocket money for the trip.

Isaac Thomas, general manager, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait, at Visa, said the campaign intends to leverage the football fever in the Kingdom ahead of the World Cup.

“Football fans are not like any other sports fans in the world, as they tend to be more passionate about the game, with an unmatched sense of loyalty for their team,” he said.

“Through our sponsorship of Fifa, Visa is able to offer unique experiences exclusive to our cardholders that add the feel of excitement and anticipation to the list of benefits Visa’s products come with. The whole idea is to provide one lucky winner in Bahrain a chance to get a once in a lifetime experience in Brazil.

“To be in Brazil to watch the World Cup final is a dream for every sports fan and this initiative of ours will help one fan live the dream. And, throughout it all, we are reminding our cardholders of the practical, safe, and convenient purchasing experience Visa products offer,” Thomas added.

In addition to the above, Visa cardholders will also be able to take advantage of the exclusive World Cup offers of partner banks.

Visa is one of six global Fifa partners with global rights in the “Financial Services” product category to all Fifa World Cup activities. This partnership follows its debut as an official sponsor at the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa, and has run through 2014 to include the rights to the Fifa Women’s World Cup Germany 2011 and the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil. Visa recently announced the extension of its sponsorship of Fifa through 2022. – TradeArabia News Service
