Macro Mart opens new store in Bahrain

Manama, April 15, 2014

Macro Mart has announced the opening of its second supermarket in Bahrain at Saar area of the kingdom.

Macro Mart had opened its first store in West Riffa last year.

Speaking at the launch, top officials of the company said there were plans to expand in a big way across the kingdom over the next few years.

The inauguration was done by Saud Kanoo, the owner of the premises.

"The setting up of the store entailed an investment of $4.24 million, which doesn't include the cost of the building," Macro Mart director RV Waghnani was quoted as saying in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

"While we are looking at many areas and haven't finalised anything yet, the next one will most likely be in the Capital Governorate," he said.

"We carry the complete range of products, over two-storeys with an area span of 38,000 sq ft," he added.

"In what we believe is a first for Bahrain, the Saar store features AirFlo's cold-enhancing aluminium shelving which makes fresh products stay fresh longer," stated Waghnani.

The mart will offer customers an array of products, both dry and fresh, from day to day essentials, like fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy products, meat, fish, delicatessen, bakery items and dry foods to IT products such as laptops, mobiles and accessories, home decor items as well as home and kitchen appliances.

Other products include stationery, luggage, sound and vision electronics like TVs and sound systems, toys, accessories, branded watches, make-up, perfumes and beauty products, school and sports products and garments for men and women.-TradeArabia News Service
